About Savah
Savah is contemporary handmade Chikankari from Lucknow. We build wearable silhouettes for real life with pure fabrics, honest pricing, and direct artisan relationships.

Built by Deepti Agrawal
Founded in 2021 with personal savings, Savah exists to keep craft integrity and commercial growth together. Every piece is made to order and crafted by hand in Lucknow.
Where Savah Begins
Savah began with a question that wouldn't leave me alone. I grew up in Lucknow — the city that has been embroidering Chikankari by hand for 400 years. I watched my entire life as women with extraordinary skill produced work of breathtaking beauty, and yet most of them remained invisible.
The middleman chain was long, the margins were thin, and the artisan was always at the bottom. Machine-embroidered copies flooded the market. Customers couldn't tell what was real. And the women doing the actual work? They weren't credited, weren't paid fairly, and weren't seen.
Savah was built to change that. We work directly with artisan families. No middlemen. Every piece is hand-embroidered — we show you the back of the garment so you can see the honesty of the stitching yourself.
Chikankari — 400 Years of Hand Embroidery
Chikankari originated in Lucknow during the Mughal era. The craft involves delicate hand-embroidery using white thread on fine fabrics — a technique so refined that each stitch type has its own name: taipchi, bakhia, phanda, murri, jali.
Our artisans work from their homes in and around Lucknow. A single kurta can take 3 to 10 days to complete. There are no machines involved — every flower, every vine, every paisley is placed by hand.
